Today I ate Bodakko Rice that I’ve been wanting to try🍚🐟
I bought frozen bodakko and grilled it myself♪
Bodakko rice is a local dish from Akita Prefecture in Japan, where very salty salmon called “bodakko” is eaten together with rice.
It’s intentionally very salty because it was originally made as a winter preserved food♪
The classic way to eat it is to use a small amount of salmon and eat lots of rice🍚
Today it can be eaten all year round, but it’s especially popular during the new rice season and in colder months.
Today I chose Akitakomachi rice🤍
This bento, commonly sold in Akita Prefecture, is very popular and sometimes sold out.
Looking at it, I can see why—it’s so impactful🫢
If I saw it, I’d probably be surprised and buy it too.
The balance between the saltiness and the sweetness of the rice was addictive.
The salmon was extremely salty—almost like the salt comes with a bonus of salmon—but the umami was incredible💓
The rice tasted unbelievably good🤤
My drink today is warm green tea🍵
